Cadwaladr Quests 11+ Reading Books for Year 5

The Cadwaladr Quests is a three-book 11+ reading serial for Year 5. Children meet difficult vocabulary, SPaG and literary devices as part of the story, with definitions and explanations on the page.

Where should my child begin?

Start with Tangled Time. It is Book 1, followed by Race for the Gold and Cat's Eye. The three novels form one continuous story and should be read in order.

Starting in Year 5 or short on time? Your child can begin with Tangled Time without reading The Cadwaladr Chronicles first. If you want the complete seven-book story, begin with Trap in The Cadwaladr Chronicles.

Do not stop to learn every word. The on-page dictionary is there to help your child understand the story without repeatedly reaching for a separate dictionary. Treat these books like any other novels. Read, enjoy and discuss them.

Knowledge Nuggets are different. Children should understand the SPaG, literary devices and comprehension points they explain.

Choosing the workbook? The Cadwaladr Quests supporting workbook follows Tangled Time chapter by chapter and must be used with the second edition of the novel. The vocabulary revision notebooks can be used to record and revisit selected words.
